Watercolour & Wine Workshop in London: Lavender Print School Review

If you’re looking for a watercolour workshop in London, Lavender Print School has you covered! A bring your own wine, watercolour workshop…what more could you ask for?

I recently visited Lavender Print School to take part in one of their Wine & Watercolour Workshops, and wanted to share my experience.

The two hour Watercolour & Wine Workshop at Lavender Print School costs £35 per person and is hosted by local artist Eva. The best part is that you are provided with all the equipment you need (paint, paper, brushes etc), and can bring a bottle of wine/ drinks with you!

I booked this class because I wanted to get back in touch with my creative side in a fun, relaxed environment, and also learn about the art of watercolour painting. This workshop was a great way for me to do this!

Lavender Print School, Battersea – Location

The workshop takes place at Lavender Print School at Battersea Business Centre – the nearest tube stations to get there are either Clapham Common or Clapham Junction or buses 156, 87, 77 or 345 stop close by.

The structure of the Watercolour & Wine Workshop

The workshops is split into two sections. The first half is where you get to learn different techniques. Watercolour artist Eva showed us a range of different watercolour techniques, and helped us get used to the paint.

This part of the workshop was crucial as I hadn’t picked up a paint brush properly since Year 7 art – so needed the crash course!

Once we grasped the basics we were let loose to free paint for over and hour, using reference images for inspiration.

The theme of this particular workshop was ‘Botanical’ so we were encouraged to take inspiration from plants, leaves, fruits and flowers. Other workshop themes include ‘Landscape’ and ‘Flowers’.

I decided to draw a watermelon and monstera leaf which I was very proud of!

It was such a fun experience and a great way to wind down and relax after a long week at work. The maximum number of people in a worship is 8. So it always feels intimate and cozy. We all had varying levels of experience, so all felt comfortable getting stuck in, with no embarassment.

I would definitely recommend if you are looking for an alternative artsy experience in London, or live locally in Clapham and want to support a local business.
