Ponto Final Lisbon Review: how to get a reservation and is it worth the hype?

Ponto Final, Lisbon is one of the most talked about restaurants in the city – so I had to give it a visit on my trip!

Worried we would be stuck queuing for hours we messaged the restaurant ahead of time to book a lunchtime reservation on a Sunday afternoon.

I would definitely recommend booking ahead if you can, or showing up as soon as the restaurant opens for lunch/dinner, as the restaurant is very popular and they begun turning people away from the queue about 30 minutes after they opened.

Food

We ordered the following dishes to share between two of us:

  • Ponto Final soup (it was a bit chilly sat by the water, so we wanted something to warm us up)
  • Petingas Escabeche (Marinated Sardines)
  • Arroz de Tamboril (Portugese Monkfish rice stew – this takes 40 minutes to make, so be prepared to wait!)
  • Ponto Final House Wine

It was all super delicious, especially the monkfish rice, which they prepare fresh for each customer.

Price (reviewed March 2022)

For the location & quality of the food we were really pleased with the price (before tips) which in total was 39 Euros per person which we felt was pretty reasonable considering we had two courses and wine.

Three Tips for visiting Ponto Final, Lisbon

  • Bring a good coat/ blanket as it can be super chilly by the water – even on a sunny day!
  • Call or contact the restaurant via social media to book a reservation as soon as you know you are going to Lisbon
  • Buy a bottle of the house wine to take home with you – it is really delicious and is a great gift/ souvenir to take home and remind you of your trip to Lisbon.

Incredible location and delicious food. Get there early if you don't have a reservation - as seats fill up fast. My top recommendation is the monkfish stew (be be warned that this take 30-40 minutes to cook, as it's prepared fresh for each table).
